“the peony rose”
Only around each year for a limited time, the peony rose is delicious with its ruffled petals and sweet scent and blooming into the most yummiest flower I ever did see. By far my most favourite and if I could be any flower I would be you.

I love the retro feeling of this bouquet.
Pink anemones, alstroemeria, freesia buds mixed with bright red leucospermum surrounded with hebe foliage and shown off in a vintage vase.

“getting married may be the biggest event you ever organize, where do you even start?”
There is a bewildering list of details to be sorted, wedding gown, flowers, ceremony, reception, transport, guest list amongst an array of other things. I could not imagine what it would have been like without Sofie’s support, enthusiasm, professionalism and hard work throughout. Sofie came up with the ideas and created all of our flower arrangements, I knew she was more than capable, from my bouquet right through to the table arrangements, all were gorgeous, simple and elegant.
Sofie is the creative force behind petal and prickle and she is so much more than a florist, she has the ability of wedding planner and so much more. There are no limits when it comes to her creativity and passion for floristry, you can be assured that each and every detail that she works on for your wedding will be breath taking.
Sofie is also a friend of mine and right from the moment Kane and I were engaged the ideas and support began to flow. I am grateful for all of her creative ideas and professionalism she provided right throughout the planning of our wedding and on the day itself, her attention to quality and detail allowed me to focus on other aspects of our wedding. On top of the amazing flowers she created a stunning back drop for Kane and I to be married in front of.
“She exceeded my expectations as I knew she would.”

“To me flowers were one of the most important elements of my wedding. Growing up with grandparents who invested most of their time outside in the garden, I began a fascination and awe for the beauty of plants and flowers”
To call Sofie from petal and prickle
just a florist is an understatement. She is more like a stylist, florist,
interior designer and wedding ideas creative. In meeting with Sofie we
shared ideas and came up with the types of flowers that were within my
budget and available that time of the year. We decided on a suitable garland with
Sofie successfully reigning me in from wanting a full fledged flower headband
to a more delicate baby’s breath crown and went for a subtle buttonhole for the boys.
With passion and enthusiasm, I witnessed her sketch my entire table setting and whiz around finding jars, tea-light candle holders and vintage doilies that could be borrowed for the nostalgic look -something that goes beyond being a florist. She knows style, what is in, what will actually look good and the tiny details that make your heart melt – like the lace she had sourced to wrap around the flower stems that matched the girl’s dresses perfectly.
On wedding day sitting in the hair salon,
nerves surfacing, the bouquets arrive. Something happened, a feeling of
sheer delight and excitement came over me. They were absolutely breathtaking.
My expectations had been completely surpassed. My table settings, bouquets,
garland headband, isle of rose petals and buttonholes were all so amazing.
These elements were so important to Blanton and I, those beautiful, natural
things around us that brought such life to the occasion.

“bright, funky and simply exquisite flowers”
A large bouquet for even my hands to hold tied off and placed in a large hurricane vase. Filled out with magnolia leaves, birds of paradise, coral anthuriums, red lilies, column stock and alstroemeria.
This vibrant bouquet will brighten anyones day.
“with a hint of quirkiness”
A hand-tied bouquet in crisp whites and shades of greens. Includes standard white chrysanthemums, white spray stock, alstroemeria and kale (ornamental cabbage). A funky looking bunch but simple in colour and the stock spreading sweet scent throughout.
Beautiful to look at with their ruffled edges and oversized petals. There are a multitude of poppy varieties in the world, varying in colour, size and smell. Colour’s of the poppy petals range from white, pink, yellow, orange, red and blue.
Red poppies signify sacrifice, this being the flower to honor our fallen soldiers every year with red poppy day.
